Global Rock 2011

What a day Saturday was!  Everyone got up very early and was at the school ready to leave at 6am!  We loaded the coach and waved goodbye to our families.

We arrived at Southampton Guild Hall feeling very excited.  We spent some time dancing in the aisles and having a good time.  We found out that we were going to perform 5th in the running order that evening.  During the day we had a group photograph, a dance workshop and a fire safety workshop, as well as having our rehearsal time on the big stage.

We went to our dressing room to have our tea.  Then came the long job of having our faces painted, our hair styled and getting into our lovely costumes.

Finally the time came.  We quietly went backstage and waited for our turn, we were all feeling nervous and excited at the same time.  We went on the stage and performed our hearts out.  We looked wonderful, danced beautifully, kept our focus and used all of our fantastic acting skills.

Didn't we look marvellous?

We had a projector in the dressing room showing us what was happening on the stage, so we could see the other schools performing and hear the results.  When we heard that we had won the awards for best choreography and best costume design we cheered very loudly. We saw Ashley, Aaron, Shannen, Ellie and Jamie on the stage collecting the awards.

Then came the time for the top four places to be announced.  We sat quietly, nervous, keeping all our fingers crossed.  Fourth and third were announced, then came second and it still wasn't us, then the judge said the winner of Global Rock 2011 is....

BARTON PRIMARY SCHOOL!!

We went wild, we jumped up screaming, cheering and hugging.  It was a wonderful result for all of our hard work and effort.  We were so proud of ourselves.  We had worked as a team and had won as a result.

Thank you to all the grown ups that helped us, and to all the parents that got up early and stayed up late, and who came to support us at the Guild Hall.  We had a wonderful day that we will never forget.
