NewsScience Week We have recently held a science week, where all the classes focussed on science topics for the week. The children had great fun learning about a variety of aspects. They shared their new found knowledge with the rest of the school during a special assembly held at the end of the week. Watch this space for further information and photographs - coming soon!
During our Science Week, we were really lucky to have some visitors arrive to take an assembly for us. They were from Amazon World, an Eagle Owl and Boa Constrictor, who were really fascinating to watch and learn about. At the end of the week we had a Sharing Assembly to share all our work and what we had learnt during the week. Here are some photographs to show you what we found out.
Aspen Class demonstrated and talked about their solar cars they had made. Also Year 4 had been working in the Environmental area throughout the week, and as a result we had a lovely presentation and they made identification cards that can be used throughtout the school when exploring and investigating mini-beasts.
Apple Class had been investigating how sugars can harm your teeth and how to look after them.
Silver Birch Class and Ash Class had been researching information about Lighthouses, and with their knowledge they built lighthouses. They also had to investigate ways to make a circuit to ensure the light worked at the top! Cypress Class had been investigating many different things during the week, although they showed the school their experiment growing mung beans in different conditions.
Sycamore Class decided to show the school, the butterfly garden where they had been waiting and observing the coccoons to hatch in to butterflies. Also some children had made and grown their Mr. Greenheads where they talked about what they needed to do to help them to grow. Then some Year 1 pupils talked about different objects they had investigated when looking at objects that float and sink.
