Mural for Early Years

After months of planning, preparation and painting the mural for the shed by First Steps Nursery has been finished.  The children of the school designed things that they thought should be on the sea-side mural almost a year ago.  Mrs Webb then organised these sketches to create a whole image.  Mrs Wales and Mrs Tapper then looked at and approved the design.  Mr Waddams bought the wood and cut it to the correct size.

During Golden Times on Friday afternoons children from every year group have had the opportunity to paint a section of the mural.  They worked very hard and took extra care so as not to go out of the lines.  Their concentration has paid off, and the mural looks wonderful.

The sea, the sand and the sky were painted by Mrs Webb, Mr Webb and their children during half term, as the areas were too big to be completed within Golden Time.  The mural was then varnished.  Mr Waddams had the difficult task of fixing the mural to the shed near to the sand pit, and making sure that the lines all matched up, and what a good job he has done!  A final coat of varnish once it was up - and the mural is ready for action.

Already the children, staff and parents have been commmenting on how lovely it looks and how much it brightens up the Early Years play area.  Come and look and see what you think.
