NewsGlobal Rock Showcase in Portsmouth Well done to the Year 3's and 4's who travelled over to Portsmouth in order to showcase their brilliant talents at the Premier Final of Global Rock. Although not competing they showed the cream of the south's talent just what juniors are capable of. The afternoon rehearsal was the only opportunity that the senior students had of watching Barton perform, so the children donned full hair, makeup and costume to further impress them. The seniors watched open-mouthed as our youngsters took to the stage and performed their hearts out. As the performance finished every senior in the auditorium surged to their feet and cheered, screamed and clapped their approval. Many of them were moved to tears. Many of the seniors lost no time in rushing over and saying what talent and confidence these young children had. Some said that they were glad we were not competing as we were a serious threat to many of their own performances! For the rest of the day our children enjoyed fame and notoriety where ever they went.
Here we are nervously waiting to go on. When it was time to perform, the students closest to our dressing room cheered loudly and wished Barton good luck. After our performance they cheered at how well the children had done. The judges were once again impressed by the children's wonderful performance, which was described as being "a very mature production", including "fantastic teamwork", "the standard was very high for this age group", and our children as being "an inspirational group of young people". Zoe from Power FM was impressed by the fact that the children had sung some of their soundtrack themselves which was an original idea in the history of the Rock Challenge. A wonderful day was had by all, full of memorable experiences and with a finale that no-one could fault. Congratulations to all the children - we are very proud of you. |
