Cowes Carnival 2007

On 22nd August, despite the rain, a faithful group of our carnival club participated in Cowes Carnival.  The children and their families danced through the streets of Cowes in the rain wowing crowds as they went.  They received lots of applause and many positive comments.  They were videod and photographed by many and started to feel like royalty!

We combined the sunset costumes from Newport Carnival and the Christmas Carnival costumes to show the progression as the sun sets and the moon rises in the sky.  The club looked absolutely fantastic and the judges obviously thought so too.  They achieved second place in the groups of 16+ category, winning a certificate and a plaque.

Then came the surprise!  We were awarded Highly Commended out of the whole of the parade.  The judges said they were impressed by the amount of effort that had been given by the children to create a stunning overall effect.  The Carnival Club were absolutely ecstatic to be presented with a superb cup to mark their efforts.

Mrs Webb would like to thank ALL of the people who turned up to participate in the carnival despite the less than summer like weather, and their families who loudly supported us around the route!  Your enthusiasm knows no bounds and is muchly appreciated.  Well done and congratulations.

The club has now participated in 4 carnivals this year, and should be justifiably proud of themselves.  Well done to everyone.
