Geography Week

Our Geography Week has been a terrific success. Each class has been learning about a different country and presented their discoveries in an extended Sharing Assembly. Cypress learned about China, Ash Class about India, Willow Class about Hawaii, Silver Birch about Italy, Beech class learned about New Zealand and Apple Class about Mexico.

Each class painted the flag of their country, and conducted research, both in school and at home, and made presentations of their findings. Many children brought in artefacts from home to share with their class. During the week the children had the opportunity to taste food from their country and compare it to their normal diet.

Children also went on various trips and focussed on the Geographical aspects of where they went. All classes and their parents had the opportunity to go orienteering which was organised by Mr Burt. Following clues marked on maps of the school, the children found letters at each location and had to rearrange them to create the name of a country. Fun was had by all!

It was a fabulous week and both staff and children throroughly enjoyed themselves, as well as learning lots of information about the countries focussed on.
